Bowles Rice Managing Partner Honored with West Virginia Executive's Sharp Shooters Award

CHARLESTON, West Virginia -- Bowles Rice Managing Partner Thomas A. Heywood received statewide recognition for his personal and professional accomplishments from West Virginia Executive magazine this week, when he was named to the inaugural class of Sharp Shooters.

The Sharp Shooters award recognizes “West Virginians who have forged successful paths that include great accomplishments in both their careers and communities in an effort to make the Mountain State a better place to live.”

In addition to his responsibilities as the firm’s Managing Partner, a position he has held since 2008, Heywood has significant experience in health care, banking and corporate/commercial law. He also is the leader of the firm’s Government Relations Team, having previously served as Chief of Staff and Counsel to former West Virginia Governor Gaston Caperton and as Chair of Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s election campaigns in 2011 and 2012.

He earned a bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from Stanford University, and his law degree from Harvard Law School.

Heywood was one of 10 West Virginians honored with the Sharp Shooters award at a presentation at the Clay Center on Thursday, August 25. He is a previous recipient of The State Journal’s “Who’s Who in West Virginia Business” and “10 Most Influential Business Leaders in West Virginia” award, among others.

He is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Super Lawyers, and is peer-review rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell.
