Technology

At Bowles Rice, our state-of-the-art technology allows us to serve clients in a timely and efficient manner from virtually anywhere. Our outstanding IT staff uses off-the-shelf and custom resources to meet the needs of our attorneys and clients and is available 24/7/365 to provide high-quality technical support.

Paperless workflow

Since 2006, Bowles Rice has used a completely digital workflow, which allows us to store, retrieve and deliver documents electronically to our clients and the courts. Exchanging important documents electronically saves our clients photocopying and postage costs and allows for instantaneous exchange of information.

Security

Our firm maintains excellent data security with a multifaceted strategy extending from our servers to our users’ mobile devices. We use firewalls, hard-drive encryption, anti-virus and anti-malware software, content filtering, spam filtering, application controls and multiple levels of user authentication. All mobile devices meet rigorous security requirements, including password protection and remote wiping. For situations that require extra security, we can encrypt e-mail and set up secure and fully encrypted data stores.

Litigation Support

Our technology shines in the courtroom. Our litigators and support staff are trained in a variety of trial presentation and litigation management tools, including Trial Director for evidence presentation and Case Notebook for transcript management and case analysis. Our litigation support and technical staff can turn virtually any boardroom or courtroom into a state-of-the-art forum suitable for electronic presentation of evidence in a court or arbitration setting.

Infrastructure

We invest in robust wired and wireless networks and best-in-class servers, desktops, laptops and mobile devices in order to ensure speed, reliability and redundancy. We are able to share information with colleagues and clients around the globe by computer or smartphone. Attorneys can access our systems remotely and work from anywhere with a wireless or wired Internet connection. The virtualization of key systems, combined with the use of wide area networks, provides a reliable, redundant and consistent technology experience in all of our locations.

All of our offices are connected by IP telephone systems, with high-definition videoconferencing throughout our West Virginia and Pennsylvania offices.
