Elizabeth M. Sims

Elizabeth M. Sims is an associate attorney in our Morgantown, West Virginia office. She is a member of the firm’s Banking and Financial Services practice group.

Through her summer internship, Elizabeth gained experience drafting correspondence to the IRS, conducting legal research, and preparing memoranda on tax and energy law matters. As a research assistant at the West Virginia University College of Law, she supported scholarly articles on tax law, estate planning, and nonprofit taxation. During law school, Elizabeth also assisted a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in reviewing and revising its legal, financial, and internal governance policies to support its application for Community Foundations National Standards accreditation through Council on Foundations.

Elizabeth earned her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law. As a member of the West Virginia Law Review, she was awarded Associate Editor of the Year for Volume 126 and served as Senior Managing Editor for Volume 127. She also served as Vice President of the Tax Law Society, assisting with United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

Elizabeth holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a degree in Accounting from West Virginia University, graduating summa cum laude.
