Bowles Rice Attorney J. Thomas Lane To Be Honored As Bar Foundation Fellow

Bowles Rice partner J. Thomas Lane is among those who will be honored as a 2014 West Virginia Bar Foundation Fellow during the 16th Annual Bar Foundation Fellows Dinner on Thursday, April 24, at the Charleston Marriott.

Bar Foundation Fellows are those lawyers and judges "whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and honorable service to the legal profession with the individuals selected reflecting the diverse nature of the legal profession in West Virginia."  Of more than 5,000 lawyers and judges in West Virginia, since 1999, fewer than 300 have been honored as Bar Foundation Fellows.

Mr. Lane practices primarily in the areas of coal, oil and gas, commercial real estate, zoning and land development. He was recognized by the 2013 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business among "Leaders in their Field" for Real Estate Law.

He is President of the Charleston City Council, where he has been an elected member since 1987.  He is also trustee and past president of the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation and past president and chairman of the Executive Council of The West Virginia Bar Association.
