New COVID-19 Federal Legislation

To help our clients during this time of confusion and uncertainty, Bowles Rice has a team of attorneys closely monitoring federal, state and local developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are advising businesses throughout our region on this fast-breaking issue.

On Saturday, the United States House of Representatives passed H.R. 6201, the "Families First Coronavirus Act." The bill contains numerous provisions relating to spending, nutritional waivers, unemployment insurance, and health care, as well as federally-mandated, temporary paid leave provisions designed to protect worker pay during absences caused by COVID-19. The bill will be introduced in the United States Senate today, where it may be amended further, but it is expected to pass in some form and the President intends to sign it.
