Are you an experienced legal professional looking for a unique opportunity in the area of litigation?  If so, keep reading.  Bowles Rice, an established law firm that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020, is looking for two motivated individuals to join our team.  We have offices throughout West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania, and are actively seeking a reliable and enthusiastic litigation practice area coordinator in each of our­­­­ Charleston and Morgantown offices.  Do you want to become a member of our team?

Each Litigation Practice Area Coordinator will assist a team of attorneys working on large and complex litigation matters. These positions will provide high-quality organizational support, adhering to best practices for litigation management and contributing to the enhanced performance of the firm.  These positions will coordinate operational activities regarding significant litigation activities, including the scheduling of deadlines and work assignments and team meetings, and preparation and monitoring of budgets/business reporting.  These positions will also include the coordination of litigation teams and development activities as well as the organization and execution of internal practice meetings and training while acting as a point of contact for a particular litigation team.

Ideal candidates include individuals who have served as litigation attorneys but no longer desire to actively practice law; former judicial clerks with experience managing a busy docket; and skilled and highly trained litigation paralegals with meaningful case management experience. Familiarity with civil litigation and top-notch organization skills are a must.

Key Responsibilities:

Actively monitoring litigation dockets and scheduling orders to anticipate and ensure adherence to key deadlines

Maintaining spreadsheets identifying key dates, deadlines, and responsible attorneys for tasks and monitoring progress amongst various team members

Scheduling depositions, mediations, hearings, client meetings, and other activities for members of the litigation team

Serving as a liaison between attorneys and secretarial support staff to coordinate court filings

Interfacing with clients to assist attorneys with obtaining information and documentation necessary for case development

Interfacing with attorneys and clients of the litigation team to coordinate tasks and activities

Assisting with formalizing new client engagements and opening new matters

Attending team meetings, taking detailed minutes, and assisting with ensuring forward progress on action items

Assisting with budgeting, billing, and monitoring expenses of the litigation team

Arranging and supporting attorney conferences with clients

Thinking proactively with a forward-thinking attitude bringing excellent organization skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
