Paul Hicks, a partner in the Parkersburg, West Virginia office of Bowles Rice, is among the newest members of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation Board, which is the governing body for the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF) and regional affiliate organizations of Doddridge, Jackson, Mason and Ritchie counties, and the Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation, which serves Calhoun and Wirt counties.  Our Community’s Foundation is the collective name for PACF and the five affiliates, a non-profit public charity (501(c)(3)) founded in 1963. 

Mr. Hicks is the head of the Bowles Rice tax group and is licensed to practice in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and South Carolina.  He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the areas of elder law, trusts and estates, tax law, litigation - trusts and estates.  He is a retired Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy, with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.  In 2007, Hicks received a Certificate of Anglican Studies from Bexley Hall Seminary and became an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church, USA, West Virginia Diocese.

At the foundation’s recent annual meeting, Board Chairman Fred Rader announced that the Foundation had distributed $1.8 million, a record amount, in grants and scholarships in 2011.  It also was announced that the Foundation’s Executive Director, Judy Sjostedt, was re-elected to a second term on the National Council on Foundations Community Foundations Leadership Team.

Hicks and two other new board members, John Tebay, a realtor from Parkersburg and Marie Caltrider, CPA, of Williamstown, will serve five-year terms.
